Takkan wanita sempurna

  1. My mother never wore hijab during her younger years. and she was shocked when I told her I’d like to wear hijab when I was 12. YES she was SHOCKED. but she DID NOT belittled anyone’s stance or belief on this. What she’d commented to me was,

“During our times, scarfs are rare (items). It’s good to see that it’s easier to get them, and it comes in many fashions too.”

By the way, what’s wrong with medieval dressing? Our Prophet PBUH was an Arabic, so it’s a sunnah. Of course, nobody is forced to dress like him. But there’s a great reward for anyone who lives the continuation of the Sunnah.

Anyway, I agree with the blogger. Men should be awared too. Women are responsibilities.

  2. manusia itu sesungguhnya lemah, sebab tak mampu menguasahi nafsunya, tapi napsunya lah yg menguasahi dirinya, karna masih tergolong hamba setan, belum disebut hamba allah.

  4. And i wonder what this Dayana lady has to say with the recent decision from Al Azhar University in Egypt that the headscarf is not a religious requirement? Has her world come crumbling down?

  5. I ♥♥♥ your article and Azhar Idris comments above. Muslim who blame rape on (lack) of hijab is what I call a defective Muslim: they are Muslim but have no ehsan.

Which is a pity since Allah SWT and his Messenger exhorts us all to have ehsan to one another.

Not to mention deluded since even women in burqas also get raped (check stats on violence against women in Afghanistan).

May Allah forgive and help these defective Muslims.

  6. MY DEAR PURNAMA… YES YOU ARE ABSERLUTELY RIGHT..I’M PISSED OFF.. ACTUALLY I’M PISSED OFF BIG TIME.. I’M A REALLY VERY NICE PERSON YOU KNOW.. ITS JUST THAT I’M VERY FRUSTRATED TO SEE MY CULTURE DYING.. BECAUSE THE MALAYS HAS CEASED TO THINK FOR THEMSELVES.. YOU SEE WHEN I WAS A KID MY GRANDMOTHER MY AUTIES ALL WORE THE BEAUTIFULL KEBAYA WITH ORCHID IN THEIR SANGGOL.. I’M SURE YOUR FAMILY IS THE SAME..THE MALAY CULTURE THAT I BELONG TO AND ARE VERY PROUD OFF NOW ONLY EXIST ON CELLULOID ON P.RAMLEE OLD MOVIES..MY GRANDFATHER WAS A GRADUATE OF THE AL-AZHAR UNI IN CAIRO WAY BACK IN THE 1930S.. YET THEY DONT SEE THEIR HEAD AS AN AURAT.. THAN ONE DAY THE SALAFIS DECIDED TO POISON THE WHOLE OF THE ISLAMIC WORLD WITH THEIR APPAULLING MYSOGYNY.. THE MALAYS TOOK THE BAIT LINE HOOK AND SINKERS.. I’M SORRY IF I OFFEND YOU WITH MY FORTHRIGHT VIEWS..BUT IT’S ONLY MY PATHETIC ATTEMPT TO PUT A HALT TO THIS LUNACY OF WORSHIPPING MEDIEVAL ARAB CULTURE OF THE DESERTS PRETENDING TO BE SUPERIOR ISLAM

YOU SEE.. I DONT BELIEVE GOD IS AN ARAB.. INFACT THE ISLAM THAT THE KORAN INTENDED ACTUALLY FORBID ALL FORM OF CLERGIES.. THE UZTAD.. UZTAZAH.. MUFTIES.. IMAMS.. AYAHTOLLAHS AND WHAT HAVE YOU ARE NOW THE NEW CLERGIES OF TODAYS ISLAM.. IT EVEN SLAG OFF THE ARABS..THEY HAVE VERY WARP VIEWS OF HUMANITIES AND GOD ITSELF.. GOD IS SURPOSE TO BE ABOUT LOVE.. COMPASSION.. MERCY.. AND FORGIVENESS.. THE GOOD DEEN WITHIN YOUR HEART IS SURPOSE TO BE MORE IMPORTANT THAN ALL THE RITUALS.. THE NEW ISLAMIC CLERGIES LOVE TO PAINT GOD AS A SADISTIC PUNISHMENT OBSESS ENTITY…INFACT THE KORAN ACTUALLY FORWARNED ABOUT THESE PEOPLE AND DEEM THEM SYATAN..THE HIJAB IS ACTUALLY A FORM OF BIDAH IT’S THE MYSOGYNIST SYMBOLS OF POWER AND AUTHORITIES.. SORRY IF THIS IS ABIT LONG.. BUT I DO HOPE YOU SEE WHERE I’M COMING FROM… PEACE TO FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART WITH GOOD INTENTION..

  7. While covering one’s aurat is wajib, i don’t see why rape victims have to be blamed just because they are not covering their aurat. No woman, regardless whether they are covering their aurat or not wants to be raped thus i really hate it when society uses sentiments like ” she’s not covering her aurat, basically she’s asking to be raped” This is just wrong. Anyway, there would be no rape victims if there are no rapists in the first place. Think about it.

Semuanya bukanlah berkenaan dgn hijab, tapi bagaimana wanita menjaga/menutup aurat.

Balik2 salah wanita ek?

  9. There’s nothing wrong with Emmy’s suggestion(she even said it nicely). I don’t get why Azhar is so pissed.

Hi, Azhar and Jasmine. I’m quite liberal in my moderating of this site, but please let’s try to manage our diverse views in a calm and thoughtful manner. We don’t have to agree with each other, but we can be respectful in our disagreement ya. Thanx.

  11. JASMINE…WHAT POINT EXACTLY DID EMMY MAKES…I’M NOT BEEN SARCASTIC.I MEAN EVERY WORD OF IT..I DETEST ALL FORM OF MEDIEVAL CULTURAL IDEOLOGY.. ESPECIALLY THE ONE THAT COMES OUT OF HORRIBLE HOT DESERT…WHERE THEY BURN WITCHEST AND STONE TO DEATH RAPE VICTIMS.. PRACTICALLY ALL THE COUNTRIES WITH THE TITTLE ISLAMIC ARE HELL HOLE..I DONT SURPOSE YOU NOTICE THAT..MYSOGYNY HAS NO PLACE IN THE 21TH CENTURY..IF THE ISLAMIC WORLD IS REALLY SERIOUS ABOUT MOVING AHEAD IN THE MODERN WORLD IT HAS TO REJECT ALL FORM OF MEDIEVAL MINDSET..THERE’S NOTHING IN THE KORAN THAT SAY YOU HAVE TO PUT THAT SHIT ON YOUR HEAD..IT’S ABOUT TIME THE MALAY WAKES UP AND RECLAIM THEIR CULTURE.. READ THE KORAN.. IT VERY SIMPLE YOU KNOW..YOU DONT NEED A KAMPONG MORON WITH BEARDS AND SHITTY ARAB GARB TO TELL YOU WHAT YOU CAN READ YOURSELF..THE HIJAB HAS BECOME A MASK OF UTTER HIPOCRACY.. INFACT ITS MENTALLY DANGEROUS.. ISLAM HAS BECOME A BUTT OF A JOKE TO THE REST OF THE MODERN WORLD……. PEACE TO YOU SISTER…..

Thanx for reading, everyone. And thanx for commenting.

I felt compelled to respond to Dayana’s piece for 3 reasons: She (herself a woman) is perpetuating the dangerous culture of shifting blame to women, she further condemns women who have decided to wear the hijab and belittles their niat, and her views are actually insulting to good men; and there are many good men out there.

Sadly, her views are common among Muslims in Malaysia and are the kind that get a lot of print space and air time in the media. These views are entrenched enough that this post has been (expectedly) misread by some as me advocating for women to not wear the hijab. I’d be interested to know which part of my post suggests so, as I am unaware of it. I respect any woman’s decision to wear the hijab if the decision is hers alone, and between her and her Maker.

Speaking of which, one might be interested to read this woman’s reasons for wearing the hijab: http://gu.com/p/37pfk

Ps: brown eyed girl, I’m very sorry to read about your personal experience as a child. I pray you have/will overcome, as best as you can, the hurt and trauma that came with it. Please be strong … *hugs*

  13. @emmy….what does that mean…try to berhijab..why not try to free your narrow mind..and medieval desert arab imperialism..and join the world of rational humanity..

  14. If we are to be a truly progressive society then men and boys should be taught to respect women. I dream of the day when they teach this at school. I was sexually abused at 5 and I can tell you this had nothing to do with aurat. Rape is mostly about power..BTW I can’t wait to read comments from stoopid chauvinists regarding this..they usually crack me up.

  15. which female english writer was it that bemoaned the state of the world which locked up their girls and women to protect them from errant men, but didn’t lock up those men? thus the perceived victims are punished while the perceived wrongdoers roam free

  16. Exactly no emphasis is made to enlighten men and boys of their responsibility! Its a case of when common sense is not so common within the Muslim men society. Start having more programs for men to respect, be responsible in all they do.
